Welcome to the Italian Bilingual School's After School Hours Care (The Italian Bilingual School OOSH).
Co.As.It. offers an After School Care Program to provide care and recreation for children of the Italian Bilingual School.
The After School program (OOSH) follows DOCS Guidelines and is part of the Italian Bilingual School's established education programs and services.
The centre is located in the transition classroom, with access to the downstairs playground and the San Francesco room.
At IBS OOSH we aim:
· To enable parents to pursue work or study in knowledge that their children are being well cared for in a safe and happy environment
· To provide a wide variety of supervised play and recreational activities that assists the overall development of the children
· To promote and encourage equity and access throughout the centre, providing equal opportunities for the children
· To maintain effective communication between parents and staff
· To promote and encourage bilingualism by employing staff, whenever possible, who are bilingual.
WHO CARES FOR YOUR CHILDREN?
The coordinator manages all financial and administrative duties and oversees the program and management of staff. All team members are highly experienced in childcare and are committed to providing quality childcare in a safe and happy environment. The assistant provides assistance to the coordinator in all areas and organizes craft activities as well as catering requirements. Italian Bilingual School's After School Hours Care operates on a 2:25 staff/child ratio. The Italian Bilingual School OOSH (Out of School Hours) service has a coordinator and an assistant.
ACCREDITATION
The Italian Bilingual OOSH program aims to provide school age children in
outside school hours care with high quality care that promotes learning and
development with particular emphasis on play, social interaction,
recreation and developing language skills. OOSH is a Commonwealth
Government initiative linked to Child Care Benefit funding approval for
outside school hours care services.
Italian Bilingual School 's After School Hours Care is registered with the
National Childcare Accreditation Council to participate in Outside School
Hours Quality Assurance.
PROGRAM
We implement a balanced program that is stimulating, interesting and exciting which allows opportunities for children to play, explore and develop new skills and is appropriate to the developmental and leisure needs of all children.
The IBS OOSH program aims to:
· Reflect the cultural and language diversity of the local and wider community with special attention to the Italian community
· Promote the importance of play in the child's life
· Encourage co-operative and responsible behaviour among children
· Make the children feel welcome and valued in the centre

· Consider all developmental areas
· Be balanced providing a range of indoor/outdoor activities, quiet/active times and areas structured/unstructured activities
· Provide a variety and choice of activities for the children
· Be stimulating, interesting and exciting, to allow for opportunity to explore and develop new skills
· Provide a variety of toys and equipment available to all children regardless of age or gender
· Help children develop self-discipline skills through positive example and direction
· Help children to appreciate and care for each other and their surroundings
